Address:

1007 Fifth Street Carolina Beach, North Carolina 28428

Getting There:

Two ways to access the house: from Dow Rd and through town. If traffic is backed up, use Dow Rd as it’s a straight shot. It’s the first right turn at the stoplight after coming over the bridge. The bridge over Snow’s Cut is the only way off the island to Wilmington.

Parking:

There are 2x driveways, 1 stone and 1 concrete. Parking is allowed on both driveways.

  • Paid parking is very common in Carolina Beach. Especially in the downtown area and beach access locations. Carolina Beach Parking Enforcement issue parking tickets regularly.

The House:

  • Main entry is through the front door with an access code for the deadbolt keypad. Your unique code was sent to you separately to prepare for your stay. Do not lock the front door handle, only the deadbolt is necessary.

  • The back door should only be locked using the deadbolt lock. There is no electronic lock mechanism on this door.

  • Heat and A/C is controlled by the thermostat behind the bed in the main bedroom. You can adjust as necessary.

  • Dishwasher pods are located under the kitchen sink. Use the detergent compartment, select wash, press start and close the door.

  • Both televisions are smart TVs and have preloaded apps (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, Paramount, Amazon Prime) Please use your own log-in. We do not have local TV.

  • The floors tend to collect sand and dirt if you walk around with sandy feet, if you’d like to keep the floors clean, please remove your shoes at the door

  • Trash and Recycle – Blue can is for recycling and the black w/ green lid is trash. If you are staying with us on Monday, please take the cans to the curb! They pick up both trash and recycling on Tuesday early mornings.

  • No parties allowed

  • Coffee? Of course, there is a Keurig and some K-cups to get you started but if you have a long stay booked please provide additional coffee.

  • FYI - we love our outdoor shower in the summer, please use it to do a quick run r or cool off as it is COLD water only.

Pets:

We welcome your furry friends but here are a few rules!

  • Please no pets on the furniture, if they tend to jump please bring a blanket for them, if there is excessive hair on the furniture or bedding you will be charged an additional cleaning fee.

  • PLEASE PICK UP THE POOP IN THE YARD BEFORE YOU LEAVE. IF WE FIND POOP IN THE YARD YOU WILL PAY AN ADDITIONAL CLEANING FEE!!!!

  • If you will be leaving your pets for long periods of time, please crate them

  • Backyard is fenced in but please don’t leave them outside all day or allow constant barking

  • Please let us know if your pet has an accident on any surfaces, beds or rugs so we can notify our cleaning crew

  • Carolina Beach allows leashed dogs at certain hours during the year. In the summer months they are allowed before 9am and after 5pm. During the fall/winter they are allowed on the beach all day! Here is the LINK to confirm hours.

Beach Equipment:

Chairs, umbrella, bag, cooler and wagon are all located in the storage shed to the right of the house. To access, use the code 1007. Please return items back to this location prior to check-out.

  • Any items taken from Good Juju should not be left unattended.

  • Any items that are lost, stolen or damaged may result in an extra charge. We hope that you’ll respect our items like they are your own!

  • The best beach access point is off Spartanburg at lifeguard stand 9

  • Please follow the rules at the beach and pay attention to the flags.

Grocery

There is a Publix and Food Lion on the island. These are the only big grocery stores that have a full selection of products to support your stay. You can order them both from Insta-cart to have them delivered before you arrive. There is also a small market close by called Veggie Wagon – we love to visit them for easy meals, produce, and ice cream sandwiches!

Check Out Details:

We are so sorry that you have to leave, wish you could stay forever! Check out is 11:00am unless otherwise noted (aka you talked to Ali and she said you could chill for a bit longer). Don’t worry about the sheets and towels. Please start the dishwasher on your way out to help our cleaning team! Please make sure all doors are locked, lights are off, and windows are closed. During the summer you can leave the AC set to 76. Thank you!

Other Notes:

  • Saturday mornings there is a local market by the lake where artists and local farmers gather to sell goods. There is usually a food / coffee truck also! This only runs Memorial Day - Labor Day.

  • During the summer months there are fireworks at the beach on Thursday nights at 9pm

  • Traffic on the weekend evenings can get heavy due to the 2-lane road going through town

  • Watch the tide levels as they will change about 4x times throughout the day.

o   DO NOT Leave anything on the beach overnight, it will be thrown away by lifeguards.

o   Download the app “Tides Near Me” to see when the high and low tides occur.

  • Power may go out during inclement weather. We will try to send you a text with information on when power will be returned. It is generally quick!

  • We recommend following @cblifeguards on IG for daily ocean information and always swim near a lifeguard!!

****Please remember you are at the beach and within a few entries your group will have tracked quite a bit of sand and dirt from the yard. Especially if you are traveling with your pets. This can make your bare feet or white socks black.  You may wish to wear house slippers if you are concerned during your visit.

Food & Drink Recommendations in CB:

  • The Sandspur – new establishment serving seafood and beach fare (our fave!!)

  • Shuckin’ Shack – Oyster and seafood bar. Divey vibe, good food

  • Island Burgers and Bites – In a gas station, legitimately good burgers, came in 2nd place at the “Wilmington Best Burger Contest”

  • Britt’s Donuts – Some of the best donuts you will ever have. The long line is worth the wait. (FYI - only open late May - early September)

    • Pro-tip: Don’t go right at opening time, wait 1-1.5hr and the line will be shorter. (CLOSED FOR THE SEASON)

  • Ocean Grill / Tiki Bar – Located a stone’s throw from Good Juju, a great place for food and drinks. Free parking for 2 hours. This is our happy place. Closed in the winter usually Jan-Feb but opens around March 1st.

  • The Spot - very close to the house, casual, great wings!

  • Malama Café - Coffee and breakfast foods, we love their BLT toast!

  • Majik Beans – Another good coffee shop in Carolina Beach (great play area for kids!)

  • Naughti Dog - on the boardwalk, delicious hot dogs and the owners are fab!

  • Island Burgers & Bites - this place is located in a gas station but don’t let that fool you, the burgers are amazing and consistently ranked as the best in the area

  • The Fat Pelican – A quintessential dive bar with a great beer selection and fun ambiance. Has been featured in some movies / TV shows like our favorite “The Summer I Turned Pretty”

  • Fun-time Ice Cream – Soft serve and funnel cakes, we visit this place at least 3x each stay!

  • Hang Ten Grill – Good bar food!

  • Crush and Grind – A wine and beer bar

  • Neapolitan Wine Bar – A new wine shop that recently opened. Great selection and local owners. They have tasting flights and a big selection of wine. Owners are very knowledgeable

  • The Southerly – Local biscuit restaurant, great place for breakfast sandwiches

  • The Veggie Wagon -  a small, specialty grocer with a beer bar, build your own ice cream sandwiches, and a variety of produce. It’s enough to get by, but probably not enough to support your complete stay (CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING, OPENING TBD)

  • Wake ‘n Bake Donuts – a small chain donut shop that has won awards for their creations – this is in the same parking lot as Food Lion
